BIO

Wouter Vandenabeele is an internationally recognized violinist, composer, arranger and artistic director of many musical projects.

In his musical early years, Wouter was active as a musician with the folk group Ambrozijn, a group that was at the basis of the folk revival of the 90s. He went on to work as a composer, arranger and artistic director of various groups and projects.

Thus he founded the world orchestra Olla Vogala which, under his direction, conquered a unique place in the Flemish music landscape. With his Chansonsseries (Chanson sans paroles, Chansons pour la fin d'un jour, Chansons pour le temps qui reste and Chansons pour les oiseaux qui ne savent pas voler) he shows his more intimate and subdued side. As musician and artistic director on the projects Hiraeth, Tamala, GFVP and Liqa, he once again tells his own story where he never excludes encounters with other cultures and genres.

Other notable projects he realized are the prestigious Hadzidakis project (opener of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens), the Moroccan-Flemish project Brared Ataï and Zuiderwind, a project with African musicians. He has played concerts in Taiwan, China, South Africa, Greece, Senegal, Lebanon and Brazil, among others.
